Alfresco’s software has been chosen by the Catalan Tax Agency as the document manager for its external website and intranet, with the aim of centralizing documents in a single location and finding them easily and quickly. Alfresco is used to manage the documents published both on the external website for citizens and for users of the ATC intranet.
The areas of the organization most involved in the rollout were the Human Resources Area and the Information Technology Area. Previously, email between departments was used for internal communications. All this has brought significant advantages to the users of the intranet.
“The Catalan Tax Agency did not have a single point through which to communicate with its employees”, notes Kilian Grau, head of Information Systems at the ATC. “So a Liferay intranet integrated with Alfresco was created”. “Alfresco centralizes documents in a single point and makes them easy and quick to find”, adds Grau. “Its easy, fast integration with Liferay were the key technical features of Alfresco that made the project possible.”
Among the most significant benefits the ATC has gained from the Alfresco solution is also having a centralized repository for its documentation.
The Agency’s governing Act sets out a series of general principles of action and states the responsibility for managing information and serving the public, with particular attention to assisting taxpayers, in order to cut processing costs and make voluntary compliance easier.
From this perspective, for this institution new technologies have become a fundamental pillar of administrative action, and web environments are currently the ideal medium for providing information and continuous communication with the greatest efficiency and convenience.
